Book Of the Month - December 2008

Well, here we go on our self-improvement journey! Sometimes it is so hard for me to buckle down, be introspective, and focus on improving my faults. I think people now-days are really learning to blame all of their life problems on other people's faults. It's not ok to blame your problems on yourself anymore. Well, I just don't agree with that. I think we need to do everything in our power to be the best that we can be, and part of that means not only accepting your own faults but striving to improve and eventually eradicate them. What good is a life of sitting around always being the same? We're here to learn and grow, not be stagnant!

Anyway... one of the best ways that I've found to help me on my journey through all of this is reading good books. Especially Leadership and Self-Improvement ones. Some people don't agree, but this is what I do. We read a book together every month, I'll post when I have comments, and you'll all leave comments as often as you like to help discussions flow. This should really help each of us as we find our own bumps and struggles through life.

Don't let yourself get discouraged!! If anything, just do your reading!! That's the most important part of all of this, this "book club" is to help me stay on track (I need the accountability... hehe), and I figure with more and more people helping me through the books, I'll get that much more out of them each time I read! PLEASE COMMENT!!! I need you!!

Here is the book for December 2008...

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey

(The link will take you to amazon.com where you can order copy of the book- or just go to your local library and get a copy! Even if you have to request it, you won't be too far behind. )

I know what some of you are thinking... "I've already read that one!" Well, read it again, one of my mentors used to always say that you have to read a good book multiple times before you really start to get anything out of it.
Or maybe you're thinking... "What a cliche! I don't want to read that one!" And to you, I say... suck it up (:])!! Maybe this site isn't the place for you. Of course, everyone will get the opportunity to pick a book, so just wait your turn! :).

Okay- good luck. See you all tomorrow with a reading guide for the month!
